I spent Queen's Day, Holland's national holiday, at Melissa & Martijn's. Young Luca was enjoying his new presents, bought at the traditional Queen's Day market: a big bus, a police car and a truck. Uncle Ben wanted to play with them too, but was not allowed to!

Airport meeting
The airport is a good place to meet people. This time I had the pleasure to meet up with Rebekka and Boaz, who where on their way to Chile just a couple of hours after I arrived from Suriname. As everyone knows, airports are magical places for kids with lots to see ("Why does the pilot have a suitcase?") and plenty of open spaces to run around in with Uncle Ben.

Leguana Beach
Unlike Aruba, Suriname is not blessed with white beaches and clear waters. There are a few beaches on the Atlantic coast, far from Paramaribo. Inventive as they are, several Surinami entrepreneurs have created beaches along the Suriname river. One of these is Leguana Beach, a cosy mini resort where chef Tony prepares delicious meals and the wine flows steadily.

Birthday dinner
I've had the luck to be in Aruba on my birthday this year. Our partners at AIB bank we're so kind to takes us out for dinner (unrelated to my birthday) and we had a very pleasant evening with good conversation and delicious Italian food. I think I will have to celebrate my birthday in the Caribbean every year!
